Protein is becoming a default grocery signal

Protein used to signal the gym. Now it appears in snacks, drinks and familiar packaged foods, where the label has become a routine signal of value rather than a specialist claim.

That changes the meaning of an ordinary grocery purchase. Companies are trying to add protein without losing flavor, texture or convenience, while shoppers see more products making the same promise in different ways.

GLP-1 medicines are one part of the market backdrop, not the whole explanation. A protein claim does not show what any person needs or settle a food's overall value; it shows how a fitness cue has become a cultural shorthand on the shelf.
