A survey shows GLP-1 use moving from a niche treatment into a broader U.S. pattern

A 2026 Gallup survey found that more U.S. adults reported having used GLP-1 medicines for weight loss than in its 2024 survey. The survey also found a rise in respondents who said they were currently taking one.
The change matters for public policy because a larger user base puts more pressure on the systems around these medicines: prescribing, coverage, pharmacy supply and the public understanding of what a new drug category can and cannot do.
